The Fondue Family - Trail Angels from the path
A few days ago, Lea sent me a photograph from her dining room table with our story in her family's hands - Mami, Lea Mauricette and Charlie (left to right).
With nighttime upon us and nowhere to sleep, Lea (centre) had stepped out from the Malbuisson restaurant and, seeing our temporary destitution, offered us a bed for the night. We ended up staying for three, meeting a family as wonderful as they come.
A Taster from A Walk to the Water:
"In the low light of the kitchen, we sat around a small circular table, centred by a ceramic fondue bowl. The heat from the bubbling sauce was impressive and, with each of our shoulders hugged up against our neighbours’, it wasn’t long before our cheeks were glowing with resounding warmth. Blending Comté, mustard, garlic and wine, the fondue smelt rich and sweet."
